Alex Kagan ‘27

EDITOR IN CHIEF

Alex is a current junior majoring in American History and American Politics. Born and raised in West Virginia, he currently resides in Lewisburg, West Virginia, and has developed an affinity for the bonds formed through living in small communities, such as Lexington and Washington and Lee. Beyond The Spectator, Alex manages W&L Men’s Basketball, is Vice President of W&L College Republicans, and Second Vice Chairman of the College Republican Federation of Virginia.

James Eustis ‘27

BUSINESS MANAGER

James is a junior at Washington and Lee University. Prior to studying in Lexington, he was raised in Charlottesville, Virginia where he began to take an interest in politics through his study of history. James is now majoring in politics and has experience working for various electoral campaigns in the Charlottesville area. In addition to his involvement in The Spectator, James serves as a Regional Specialist for the Alexander Hamilton Society and as an Editor for the W&L Political Review.

Akash Abraham ‘28

MANAGING EDITOR

Akash is a sophomore at Washington and Lee, and is from Las Vegas, Nevada. He intends to major in Politics and Economics on a pre-law track. In addition to serving as an associate editor for The Spectator, he is the Political Chair for Mock Convention 2028, as well as a member of W&L College Republicans, Cricket Club, and the South Asian Student Association. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, discussing domestic and international politics, watching professional sports, and trying new foods.

Nathan Gilbert ‘27

Nathan has served in various leadership positions in campus ministry and pro-life advocacy prior to his tenure at the Spectator. This year, he will continue working with SFLA, as well as the W&L Newman Society, but is delighted to be directing much of his attention towards the Spectator. Nathan encourages anyone from any political persuasion—student, alumni, or anyone besides—to email him at editor@wluspectator.com if they would like to learn more about The Spectator, or if they would like to see their work published. Academic and historical works are especially in demand, as are letters to our editors, in which we encourage writers to challenge any opinions previously published in our opinion section.

Dominic is a politics major from Rabun Gap, Georgia. He participates in Catholic Campus Ministries, University Singers, College Republicans, board game club, and a variety of club sports. He also writes for the College Fix, an online publication focused on higher education.

Veronica is currently a junior at Washington and Lee University double majoring in Politics and East European & Russian Studies with a minor in Journalism & Strategic Communication. Veronica is from Carrollton, Virginia and is a member of the Reformed University Fellowship’s (RUF) servant team and Vice President of The Campus Liberty Coalition. When she’s not studying, Veronica enjoys crocheting, dancing, and spending time with her friends and family.

Raja Mehendale ‘28

Raja is a sophomore at Washington and Lee University where he runs on the cross country and track teams. In the classroom, Raja plans on double majoring in both Spanish and Economics. Raja previously worked in an alumni relations capacity at his high school alma mater, St. Mark’s School of Texas. In his free time, Raja enjoys watching formula, playing pickleball, and participating in College Republican’s events.

Daniel is a sophomore at Washington and Lee University, exploring a major in Accounting with a potential minor in Classics. He is originally from Calgary, Canada, but has also spent extensive time living abroad in China and the Middle East. These experiences have broadened his global perspective, fueling his desire to understand our complex world. Outside of academics, Daniel enjoys scuba diving, hiking, fishing, birdwatching, and sailing.

Caden is a W&L junior, majoring in Biology and pursuing a minor in Journalism and Mass Communications. He is originally from Tennessee and enjoys reading all kinds of books, playing tabletop games, and spending time outdoors. He hopes to one day pursue a career as a science writer or journalist.

David Lee intends to major in Economics and Minor in Data Science at Washington and Lee University. He has a passion for writing, particularly about events happening on campus and the unique perspectives of Washington and Lee students and staff. Born and raised in California, his hobbies include learning new languages and cultures, playing sports, and traveling the world.

Will is majoring in Political Science and pursuing a LJS and Journalism minor. From the small town of Browns Summit, North Carolina, he enjoys playing sports, listening to country music, and spending time outdoors. He is involved with RUF and the LEAD program on campus. Additionally, he has participated in YAF (high school) and College Republicans (W&L). He hopes to attend law school after graduation.

Wesley Mazzucco ‘27

Wesley is math and physics double major from Haddon Heights, New Jersey. Although his interests are primarily in STEM fields, he also has a passion for writing and enjoys making voice heard on campus and throughout the W&L alumni network via The Spectator. On campus, he is involved with Reformed University Fellowship and is the President of Club Roundnet/Spikeball and the Vice President of Chess Club. In his free time, he enjoys playing a variety of sports and board games.

Simon Rozsa ‘28

Simon is a Sophomore from Budapest, Hungary, studying History, Classics and Archaeology at W&L. He enjoys playing soccer (a.k.a. football), biking, as well as all things theater-related. Having spent a year in Staunton, VA as a high school junior, he has a special soft spot for this part of the States. Passionate about sustainability issues, he serves for the Compost Crew and Campus Garden on campus.
