Satirical Spectator: “Money Talks” Selected as New Fight Song

Andrew Dobermann-

Today the Student Affairs office announced that AC/DC’s hit “Money Talks” has been selected as the new fight song of the university. Student Affairs cited the opening lyrics “tailored suits, chauffeured cars, fine hotels, and big cigars” as being particularly representative of the values professed by the university and student body alike. This announcement marks the conclusion of a month-long write-in campaign in which students sent in suggestions to replace the old “Washington and Lee Swing.” The contest is said to be a response to an incident wherein the swing was played at a women’s basketball game and only a single 80-year-old alumnus actually knew the words. Starting in March, the Generals will enter gyms and fields to the sound of Brian Johnson’s screeching tenor glorifying the extravagant lifestyle enjoyed by W&L athletes. Other top contenders for selection included “Livin’ la Vida Loca” by Ricky Martin, “Money, Money, Money” by ABBA, and Mac Miller’s “Donald Trump.”
